The country's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a public message.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy died and several individuals were hurt.

The strikes follow evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The entire country is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were preparing for more assaults.
